A deadly tornado swept east Texas northwest Louisiana and southwestern Arkansas killing at least 24 people and injuring many as it ripped through camps and towns. Rescuers searched debris while authorities warned of more storms and possible toll rises as the storm’s path continued northeastward.
Phoenix March 30 The Arizona Board of Pardons and Paroles denied clemency for Winnie Ruth Judd in the murder of Agnes Anne Leroi. Judd faces execution at Florence at daybreak on April 21 unless stay or other action prevents the death sentence. The board’s formal finding cited Judd’s statements and evidence reviewed, asserting she shot Leroi in her apartment, with the pistol at close range.
In Helena a proposed occupational ordinance would require licenses for 139 distinct occupations trades and professions in the city. The measure aims to levy license fees and regulate conduct by individuals firms and corporations within Helena limits. The ordinance, though partially drafted, was delayed by the mayor and will be submitted to the city council after the election with work on the driver’s license ordinance already completed and to be presented together later.

It would put more than 6 000 000 persons to work and aid to restoring hope and confidence throughout the land. The bill sponsored by Senator Black would regulate interstate commerce to protect people from misery and destitution caused by harmful practices.
New York March 30 AP Marcus Daly son of a prominent pioneer and brother in law of James W Gerard former ambassador to Germany left a gross estate of 7,750,089 and net 6,884,805 as transfer tax appraisal disclosed today. Contingent remainder men named include Mrs Gerard prominent Margret and Carin Hrowr of Baltimore and Harriet and Marks Sigiay, a sister and niece of Buda peat. Daly died February 40 1980.
CAPT W. W. Watera, leader of the “Rane army” in Washington last year, announced he severed ties with the Khakishitta and the American Ssattonatiata veteran organizations. He said he would not serve and outlined plans for a legitimate private enterprise in Portland, Oregon, before his command duties.
March 30. Mrs. Minto Powell, 24, of an unnamed locality, remained in a strange trance for a third day while a mystery arising from pollen affected Arthiy Be Trott, 2, of La Granda, Ore. Trott described Powell’s trance during a reading session from the One Hundred and Thirty Ninth Taalm. Trott was taken to Waterton for examination. Trott claimed a herbal doctor rendered a liquid toy and ashes to influence the living and alleged theft of money given to the poor.
