Prosecutor Helen Huffigan, a former Sunday school teacher, questions jurors about church affiliations as the defense signals a claim that the minister could not have attacked a girl while tending a fishing tin and plimbing handdig.

San Francisco, March 25. State Attorney General A. B. Webb assigns Brady to prosecute Thomas J. Mooney in the forthcoming trial on an old murder indictment tied to the 1916 San Francisco Preparedness Day bombing. Brady, who favored a pardon, had sought to withdraw after Judge Ward granted a new trial, but Webb rules Brady cannot disqualify himself and must proceed or move for dismissal.

Eldor March 28 deputies took over law enforcement in Zeigler after Sheriff Browning Robison said the town could not cope. Mayor Smith travels to Springfield to urge Governor Hendry Horner to deploy troops to restore order as police and deputies patrol with machine guns. Schools were dismissed yesterday due to ongoing disturbances.
Yosuke Matanaka, head of Japan's delegation to the League of Nations, told the Japanese chamber of commerce in New York that time will vindicate Japan's actions after World War I. He said Japan has suffered a defeat and the world will one day judge that Japan was not wrong or selfish.
