Wall Street faced a dramatic trading day with huge swings as the speculative market faltered then steadied. The New York exchange traded a record 4.70 million shares amid a sharp intraday rally recovering from early losses.
In Longview Texas a 14 year old girl armed with a .45 revolver disrupted a school, detaining 35 pupils and a teacher. She demanded the principal be called and told others not to call the police. After the incident she was sent home with the weapon. charges of disturbing the peace and carrying a prohibited weapon were filed.
Los Angeles engineer William Mulholland declared sole responsibility for the St Francis dam project during the inquest into the March 13 collapse. He denied neglect and said any blame rests with him, detailing site inspections and collaboration with his team.
Rome, March 27. Pope Pius X criticizes the Catholic center party for easing its religious role to work with the Fascist government. Cardinal Gasparri urges French Catholics to back the republican regime. The pope objects to Fascist plans to train youth through Brigades and Avanguardisti, fearing their influence could pull Italy away from the church.
Anaconda March 27 AP Trial of Barney McGreevey Deer Lodge County coroner charged with first degree arson began with jury selection. The complaint alleges he attempted to set a fire at the Pigely Wiggly store in February.
Pittsburgh march 27 ap the Save the Union committee issued a strike call for all unorganized miners in western Pennsylvania for april 16 citing unbearable living conditions and numerous charges against operators. Officials of the United Mine Workers said the union has no connection with the Save the Union conference.
Montgomery Ward considers establishing a chain store in Helena along with a warehouse front supplying western Montana stores. Negotiations began six weeks ago with multiple property offers and a proposed building near Sixth and Main Avenue. A thirty year lease and Ward led architectural plans are possible if a deal is struck.
The House approved the largest annual navy supply bill since the Washington conference, authorizing 59 million dollars, about 20.4 million more than the current appropriation. Debates included LaGuardia’s call to withdraw Marines from Nicaragua and bids for two ditigibies with Goodyear and American Brown Boveri named for anticipated contracts.
Pensacola, Fla March 27 AP two naval training planes collided above the local flying field. Ensign J M Carson jumped with a parachute and landed safely. Lieut J L Kimes of the U S Marine Corps stayed at the controls, guided the crippled plane down and landed unhurt. Both aircraft were badly damaged.
Newark reports Gene Tunney world heavyweight champion and Jack Dempsey will fight in a July or August bout in New Jersey. A Royle‑style 30 acre stadium could host about 135000 spectators. The 15 round decision fight would be the first title bout in the state under the new rules. Dempsey heads east for talks with Tex Rickard after New York commission warning. Tunney prefers a longer match he can win to preserve his image.
Dublin reports the Bremen German flight likely to delay its departure for America due to unfavorable weather. Captains Hermann Koch and Arthur Spindler are to share the cockpit with full controls each, remaining in seats while one pilots and the other naps briefly with a head cushion in place.

The Brigham bill passed by the Ways and Means Committee would transfer federally seized alcohol vehicles to the labor department for immigration enforcement. A provision to transfer seized vessels was removed.
An earthquake across northern Italy’s Udine province killed and injured many. Reports from Cavazzo Carnico Verzegnis Telmezzo and nearby towns describe collapsed buildings damaged churches and fatalities. Carabinieri and fascist militia aided rescue efforts as communications faltered and relief began.
A freak tornado in eastern Cherokee county Georgia last night killed five persons and injured a score, with 12 seriously hurt. William J Maishwood and five children perished at the Orange community farm house. Grady Fowler and Mrs Osie Meath were among the injured and a one year old child was found in wreckage. About twenty people were left homeless as several houses were razed or damaged.
Fifty cowboys and two herds of 3000 wild horses, one of the largest bands in years, moved toward Yakima from Lincoln County, over 100 miles away. The horses are to be slaughtered for feed and fertilizer. A crowd gathered near the Vantage bridge to watch the drive.

Dr S Oliver Netherton a 39 year old retired physician and fruit farmer must stand trial in May for his wife Edith Netherton 32 who was shot to death Feb 24 at their farm near Olathe Kan He was bound over to district court after a preliminary hearing where prosecutor Howard E Payne cited damaging circumstantial evidence and a possible motive related to an estate of about 100000 The defense suggested a family bloodline of violence may connect to five other relatives over 43 years
In Chicago, after bombings wrecked the homes of Senator Charles S. Tieneen and Judge John A. Swanson, a Republican candidate for state's attorney, rewards totaling 65000 were posted for information leading to arrests. Senior Deneen blamed organized criminal elements in Chicago and Cook County for the attack as political tensions widen.
Washington March 27 AP Senate democrats reiterate their claim that 2 million persons are unemployed while Senator Smoot Utah Republican cites a Labor Department figure of about 1.8 million. Democrats attack the report as political and urge early relief through spring and summer building activity. Continued on pages two.
Mesicn City reports two Mexican rebels faced a firing squad after court martial. Vitus and Leon were executed for alleged arms and ammunition aid to NSMITRents amid a larger roundup including 27 others, while four women testified about sending wearers to Jalisco.
Three Americans died when their plane en route from Nogales to Mexico City crashed in the streets of Toluca. Victims named are Sterling Rehlfs, pilot Walia J. King, and Wallace Springer. King survived initially but died later after hospital treatment. bodies sent to Mexico City. Flight said to aid air mail development.
Vienna reports from San Sebastian indicate former empress Zita of Austria Hungary underwent a successful operation today. Hungarian royalists, eyeing her eldest son Otto as potential ruler, followed the illness with interest and speculation about a possible succession.

Sacramento reports indicate residents of Nicolas in Sutter County fled their homes as a levee on the Feather River reportedly broke. Efforts continued late at night to restore telephone communication between Sacramento and Nicolas to coordinate emergency response.
Endicott High School was idle as eight faculty were not reappointed and five others resigned after the school board refused to renew several teachers including Vic Carmtron, the football coach. The superintendent and grade school principal were also not re-employed while students walked out in protest.
