Geneva dispatch reports Lord Cushendin announcing a British note to the American French and Japanese delegations outlining concrete proposals to limit future battleship size to under 30 000 tons and reduce gun calibers as part of disarmament efforts before the Washington treaty capital ship replacement program.
The Ayacucho prefecture reported finding parts of an airplane bearing the initials C R P 4. One explanation ties the wreck to a Brazilian scientific commission. others link it to Paul Redfern’s missing solo flight from Brunswick to Rio de Janeiro. The Peruvian find lies over 2,500 miles west of Redfern’s mapped route.
In Waycross Georgia on March 24 Mrs Herbert D Young wife of the then missing Central Baptist pastor filed suit against Mrs B P Walker alleging alienation of her husband's affections. Meridian Mississippi court officials reported a man named Rev Herbert D Young obtained a marriage license there March 2 to wed Mrs Be P Walker of Covington Kentucky.
Washington March 24 AP Administration experts say a $225 million tax cut is not feasible this session if a balanced budget is to be kept. Existing appropriations plus flood relief estimates of $40 million require trimming. Treasury plans to return to Congress with revised figures likely reducing the cut by $190 million to $240 million.
Chicago March 24 AP Governor Alfred E Smith of New York will never be president of the United States, says Senator J Thomas Heflin of Alabama. He blasts Smith as part of a Catholic effort to control the country and calls for overthrow of constitutional norms. He denounces Mussolini as ally of the pope and a red handed murderer for persecuting Protestants and Masons. A resolution urging Coolidge to withdraw troops from Nicaragua or face war was endorsed.
State and private banks in Montana report stronger conditions with resources up by more than 6 million since December 31, 1926. The February 28, 1927 abstract notes a continuation of improvement despite expected seasonal declines. Deposits rose from 83,889,874.18 at year end to a higher figure by February call, with further details available on page six.
Jack Higgins, an outsider known as 2 mud der, won the seventh Louisiana Derby at Jefferson Park, taking the $11,459 purse for owner W. Curran of Chicago. Time Maker, E. B. McLean’s colt, finished third. The crowd braved threatening weather as the field of 14 faced the mile and a quarter race.
Seattle March 24 A4P Court action may determine if removing a dog's bark is cruel and harmful. Mrs B Werner hotel proprietor owns a Phalenean dog whose bark she detests and desires to have its vocal cords operated on. Humane society official Charlies M Farrer says a veterinarian calls the operation cruel. He will petition courts for an injunction if witnesses back the claim.

General Motors advanced to a fresh high near 192, lifting the market’s value by about 925 million dollars across its 17.4 million outstanding shares, though profit taking cooled gains.
An explosion tonight at a vacant shop beneath the Lexington Avenue subway near Fifty-First Street caused damage to nearby furnaces and minor injuries to two people who were knocked over. Washington dispatch reports a bill to expand veterans hospitalization funding moving toward action. The Veterans' bureau would gain 15 million dollars for new and improved hospitals with sites proposed in Kentucky southern New England Philadelphia and New Jersey. The measure authorizes executive takeover of soldiers homes for bureau use and funds to expand neuro psychiatric care and other disabilities.
Albert Harry Adama alias James Shannon, sought for murder and 10 bank robberies in California and Utah, and his wife Grace Shangon former Grace Winkelman, a champion cowgirl, were captured in front of a jewelry store after a tip. Police say five confessions were obtained, with six detectives involved in the takedown on March 24 in Colorado Springs.

Chillicothe Ohio March 24 Wallace Goldsberry 32 and Bretot Depew 80 local residents were killed this afternoon when Goldsberrys airplane nose slumped from a low altitude near Hopetown about two miles north of here Goldsberry pilot and owner of the plane and Depew a painter and student aviator had taken off from the farm on which they crashed only a few minutes before the accident
In Washington on March 24 an eight-year-old great great grandson of Alexander Hamilton and an eleven-year-old great-grandson of Albert Gallatin toured the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Philip Schuyler Thunisten of New York and Thomas Gerry Gallilah of Wyoming saw their ancestors' engraved portraits that now appear on government currency and securities, escorted by officials and introduced by A. W. Hall.
Mary F Sinclair obtained an order from Justice Jennings Bailey to take the deposition of Albert J B Fall as part of his defense against Teapot Dome conspiracy charges. The deposition will occur March 29 at El Paso Texas with M B Bull named as commissioner and limited notice to government prosecutors.
