New York observers report brisk spring retail trade with favorable weather boosting activity across most regions. Wholesale movement slows as spring deliveries finish. structural steel demand and auto sector inquiries show optimism while mine-based supply reserves and credit ease persist.
Voters of Helen s will gather at polling places to choose two nominees for the general city election on April 4. Candidates are Martin Doty the incumbent J Ro Wine W2 Leffler A E B Cumming and Frank Mundt. Polls open this morning and will stay open until vote is counted at wards 1 through 7 locations.
Warrington reports American automobile production in February rose from January but remained below February 1926 levels. The Commerce Department set February output at 298,359 cars, up from January's 234,142 but down from 357,490 produced in February 1926.
Charles T. Stewart, secretary of state since PPL7, goes on trial before the Montana Senate at noon today after impeachment by the house on alleged irregularities. A special senate committee set the trial rules. Stewart will answer with help from attorney George S. Hurd. Prosecution by a house managers panel led by G. M. Moss covers distribution of state insurance and publication of sensational amendments. Stewart, a three term Republican, has been married with one son.
In New York on March 20 a middle aged woman interrupted Rev. Dr. John Roach Straton during a Cavalry Baptist Church service. She shouted that evolution is a lie and called the crowd liars before leaving. Straton replied calmly and the woman labeled the attendees bigots at the door.
Georgetown Texas March 20 Rebecca Bradley Rogers of Austin a former Texas university co ed and alleged bank robber is to be called to trial here Monday on an indictment charging her with aiding in the robbery of the Buda bank Her lawyers will seek a continuance in Haya county to delay the trial citing the critical condition of her husband Quis Roger Amarillo attorney who collapsed when leaving a sick bed to defend his wife The husband’s condition remains unimproved according to semi official reports
Wellington reports a fairly severe quake in Westpost, South Island, occurring Friday night. The shock was preceded by a loud explosion. Damage extent is not yet reported.
Cheyenne reports a weekend storm across southern Wyoming dropped four to seven inches of snow, blocking highways and delaying air mail. Yellowstone Park recorded the state's low of three degrees, while Cheyenne was colder. Warmer temperatures forecast for tonight.

Lyons Ga March 20 Special terms of superior court are set to begin in Toombs and Treutlen counties this week over a series of floggings and masked band allegations. Toombs will hear six men indicted in the Sones flogging case, while Treutlen’s service court opens to handle any business, including the Soperton News editor flogging incident. The grand jury convenes with the terms.

Pendleton Oregon March 20 A touring car plunged 176 feet down a cliff on the Columbia highway west of Pendleton killing three inside and injuring another. The fatalities were Benjamin Griegs Barbara Watkins 18 of Mondiaton and Willian Te Tink 26. Helen Whitted 22 of Pendleton escaped with injuries after summoning aid from a service station.

Italian aviator Commander Mancesco de Pinedo arrived in Mangas Brazil after a 660 mile leg from Guajara Mirim. The pilot’s mission includes crossing four continents with the next leg toward Guarapa and Pare, promising less peril though still inland.
