Death calls Frank Conley noted pioneer of Montana

Frank Conley a longtime deputy sheriff in Custer County and later warden of the territorial prison in Deer Lodge died in a Miles City hospital. Born February 28, 1864 in Havre Maryland he came to Montana in 1880 and served in surveying Yellowstone National Park, then as deputy sheriff and warden of the prison, guiding its transition to a federal facility. He remained involved in prison operations until 1924. Continuous service and public safety work marked his career in early Montana.

Murderer of Girl Dies by Own Hand in Oklahoma City
