Reported acid attack at Leonard watchman occurs around 12:30 am as two autos stop at the mine gate. Pickets on duty are splashed with a foul smelling liquid from a bottle drawn by a new arrival who attempted to sing contents on the watchman. The group leaves. later, authorities and union officials distance themselves from the serenading incident and rowdy behavior.
J B Smith of Aadersburg who runs the Surprise mine in the famous gold district visited Butte yesterday and showed several specimens of wire gold a rare form of the metal He is a grandson of the operator of the mine and has been working it for months The mine adjoins the Ohio Keating property and Smith reports much activity in the Radersburg district.
In Columbia Missouri on June 27 Thussell Burwell 18 reportedly attempted to shoot a stray dog. His wife tried to intervene and Burwell allegedly slammed the gun down causing a discharge that killed him. Local authorities are investigating the accidental death.
The remains of Mrs. Mary Murphy are to be transported Thursday morning to the Daly-Shea mortuary for the funeral on Friday morning at eight o'clock A.M. A Requiem high mass will be held at St. Joseph's church at 2:30 P.M. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The remains of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Frogge are at the family residence in Upsburg, with a funeral today at 2 o'clock officiated by Mrs. George Welcome of the Anaconda Christian Science church. Interment will be in Philipsburg cemetery. Card of thanks from Mr. and Mrs. Lee Freed and Mr. and Mrs. John Walsh for condolences and floral offerings. White's Funeral Home, 4? West Park Street.
A June 27 storm near Wolf Point caused heavy crop losses in northern McCone County and killed hundreds of sheep, pigs, and poultry as hailstones struck. The storm covered Sand Creek and Vida areas with deep drifts, while Roosevelt County reported nearly cloudburst rains between Wolf Point and Poplar and Culbertson also suffered hail and wind damage.
Early returns from 21 counties show Chief Executive Langer leading the Republican field amid a strong rural vote. James P. Cain and T. H. Thoresen trail, while U S Senator Lynn J. Frazier leads in the race for the Senate nomination. Voter turnout rises with favorable weather and heavy local participation, Tri Valley City reports large ballots.

Washington June 27. The Civilian Conservation Corps will recruit 50,000 youths aged 18 to 25 and 5,000 war veterans from 22 drought states to relieve suffering. Total CCC enlistment to 387,000 at an initial 12,300,000 dollars for about three months in 150 to 200 new camps. States named include California, Indiana, Texas, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, and others. Quotas to be released soon. In Montana, Governor Cooney reports 20 or 25 emergency conservation work camps requested for drought counties, with funding via ECW projects and planned by county planning boards or relief commissions.
San Francisco reporters say ocean commerce directors threatened to force open the port by force if striking maritime union workers do not return by noon tomorrow. Strenuous efforts were made to persuade strikers to resume work while the 50 day walkout is examined by Roosevelt's national longshoremen's board. Appointment of the labor board had created optimism on the Pacific coast despite signs that either side may concede points.
Three men were shot and killed in a roadside restaurant near Prestonburg in a feud driven attack. Victims were Mensier Bradley, 23, Malcolm Alten, 37, and Len Nolan, 30, after a dispute over a ride led to a deadly gun battle.
Fears for George Smalley, wealthy Van Nuys retired businessman, abated when a letter from him arrived from Kansas City stating he was headed to Newton Kansas and Austin Texas after leaving Washington June 16.

In Harlan Kentucky the 18-year-old Aubrey McClendin died from gunshot wounds suffered earlier in Evarts at the hands of 11-year-old Lena Mae Harvit. The shooter reportedly acted because a rider ordered him to shoot any woman approaching their house.
Washington June 27. The cost of the New Deal was made a Republican campaign cry as Democrats defended emergency spending. Congress approved about 9.67 billion for the session with over half for emergency needs, while Republicans warned of bankruptcy and warned the nation about borrowing.
City budget figures were reviewed by the Ways and Means committee of the city council with Mayor Archie McTaggart present. Members said many figures were published but no definite conclusion reached and a follow up meeting was planned for next week. The committee includes T. A. Morgan Alderman 41 M. Brown Jerry Sullivan Walter Pressman and T. R. Morgan.
Helena June 21 Five new cases of Rocky Mountain spotted fever were reported to the state board of health last week bringing the total to eight in Montana during the last two weeks.

It cites wage levels, small business impact, and the representation balance within the cement and wood pencil sectors. The statement notes initial industry support for the code and argues against claims of oppression.
The Needham gang accomplices Morton Millen Norma Brighton's husband Irving Millen and Abraham Faber were found guilty of murder after a seven hour trial. Judge Nelson P Brown withheld sentence and gave time to file appeals as Norma Brighton appeared shaken and escorted from the courthouse.
A plant explosion near Olympia killed Toare and several workers, injuring others as crews battled a fire and attempted to rescue colleagues. Victims included Alvin Smith J J Denner and Andrew Hayden. The blast followed a pre explosion fire, with bodies moved to emergency rooms and local undertakers assisting. The plant, owned by J A Dean of Portland, had rebuilt after a prior nonexplosive blaze.
A gasoline tank car exploded on a railway siding in Columbia Massachusetts today killing M. M. Norton 35 manager of a bull gasoline distributing company instantly. Lela Neely aged 4 and Margaret Crane aged 6 died later from burns and Lee McBaine died of injuries. Norton’s two children Helen 9 and Buddy 11 suffered burns and Mrs Norton had minor burns.
Growers agreed on a field pay schedule for harvest labor with board included, distinct from factory pay. Pea cutting begins this week as fields show limited readiness, with the cannery steam up for early crops. Despite a dry season, rainfall and irrigation should raise tonnage. over 100 women are employed seasonally in processing peas cherries beans and cabbage.

Raymond Moore and Hamilton Boy Scouts planned a trip to Lolo Hot Springs. Maynard Lamoreaux and daughter of Stevensville visited J W Lamoreauxs family. Mrs James Smith was honored with a birthday party hosted by her children and grandchildren.
In Kansas City on June 27 a janitor shows a labor saving device by sliding his mop under a bus wheel that stops regularly in front of a building. As the bus moves away the mop is pressed dry and ready for swabbing up.
