William Shepherd Acquitted in McClintock Murder Case
Chicago June 26 William Darling Shepherd was acquitted of the murder of his foster son William Nelson McClintock after a 5 hour 40 minute jury deliberation. The jurors refused to reveal ballot counts or methods used to reach the verdict and said they would not break their oath of secrecy. Shepherd walked from Cook county jail a free man though he faces a separate murder charge in the death of Billy McClintock and possibly the 17 year old Emma Nelson McClintock. The corner's jury urged he be held for the McClintock murder, but his attorneys doubt he will stand trial on that count.
