Virgina City Montana June 2 Joe Goretti testified in his defense in the murder case of Paul Pesanti. He denied involvement in the alleged return to the ranch and robbery, saying he learned of the affair only from Rameo Lotti and that he went to Hutte to swear out a warrant at Mrs Pesanti's request. He said Emilio Fantini provided funds for travel. Under cross examination he maintained the main story but contradicted earlier statements.
Washington June 23 API An order establishing standards for wool and wool tops, effective July 1, was announced by Secretary Jardine. The updated grades subdivide several series from 7 to 12 and align with American terminology. Grades are based on the diameter of fiber, ranging from Raw to Fine.
John A. Harrison aged 32 president of a local printing firm and a 17 year old girl drowned in the Meramac River near Jefferson Barracks while Harrison attempted a rescue. His body was recovered but the girl’s remains were not found. The incident was witnessed by his wife and two children.
A New York court today examined the life of cartoonist Bud Fisher in a domestic case. The hearing focused on Fisher’s personal and professional history with testimony highlighting his career in comedy and the events surrounding his life.
Bisbee Arizona June 23. Sheriff James F. McDonald of Cochise County says clothing and shoes worn by Mrs Aimee Semple McPherson were not damaged when she was taken to a hospital in Douglas early today after appearing in Aqua Pronta Sonora. He credits Mexican rurales and officers for aiding in tracking alleged abductors over rugged miles. The sheriff notes no evidence of resort waste on the apparel and confirms possession of the items for further investigation.Continued on pages two.
Los Angeles June 23 federal officials say they are not interested in the McPherson case. Lucien Wheeler chief of the department of justice southern district of cantare and Arizona and Waller Carr director of United States immigration services state that if the evangelist thinks her alleged kidnappers are in Mexico the matter should be referred to the department of state which will contact Mexican authorities.
