Red Lodge-Cooke City Highway Survey Proposed
F E Thieme district engineer Forest Service and B F Kitt of the Bureau of Public Roads will conduct a reconnaissance survey of a Red Lodge to Cooke City forest road. The route would cross Beartooth range at about 10 000 feet, spanning roughly 60 miles and crossing Montana Wyoming. Officials say the government would pay all costs, but engineers deem it infeasible due to high altitude limited summer accessibility and high construction costs.
