Washington reports General Hugh S Johnson announced the cotton textile industry leads the national recovery program under the National Recovery Act. A minimum wage of 10 dollars weekly in the South and 11 dollars in the North with a 40 hour work week is proposed, aiming for about a 20 percent wage rise and similar cut in hours. Ahreveport La June 19 Rodenbamer El Dorado Ark former national commander of the American Legion is killed by a gas explosion in the East Texas oil field near Henderson. He suffered severe burns over his body except the head and chest and died at 7:20 p.m. in a Shreveport hospital. He was en route to Houston on business and stopped at a property in the oil field with assistant C Cook to reopen five wells after a shutdown. The blast occurred as the men stood in front of a home when a gas explosion followed and the nearest well was about 150 yards away.
Kalispell June 19. A two year old son of Mr and Mrs Robert Hil drowned in Lost Creek northwest of Kalispell. The child in play at the creek edge fell in and was recovered an hour later in the Awoklen waters.

Washington reports an order restoring the two cent rate for first class postage starting July 1. The move reduces from three cents to two to prevent furloughs for postal workers and keeps card rates at one cent while rural and village mail follows the same two cent inland rate.
Livingston Montana June 14 County Coroner Pemberton said no inquest would be held into the death of herder Fi Sufano who was struck today as he stepped in front of a car driven by Clarence Gilbert. Sufano, a sheep herder, died after being brought to the hospital.
Washington officials study liberalized veteran benefits as of June 19, reviewing how presumptive disability records will be handled. Boards to review compensation cases under new law aim to extend rolls through October 31, with 7 percent payments issued from March 20. Millon Mont June 19 officers tonight patrolling highways and searching intome Miles for three prisoners who escaped from Beaverhead county jail last night. It was the second break from the jail in less than two months. Claude Vanra A A Mangus with D R Mangus were recaptured at Livingston after escaping May 25 and gained their freedom again last night Roy Ottie accompanied them. Stay Behind D and Mangus made an attempt to get away last night nor did five other prisoners. Three of the five men who fled May 25 have not been apprehended.
Rey P. Porter of Bynum Montana petitions a state court to recover his two daughters from their mother Mrs. Gertarde T. Porter, claiming the children were improperly awarded to her after a years earlier divorce in Cascade County. The case notes the girls born May 18 and June 14. A court order previously restrained Mrs. Porter from removing the children from Seattle pending the custody dispute.
