Reign Minister Artho dismissed Berlin's plea for new German arms, signaling a firm stance ahead of the Geneva talks. Officials in Paris and London pegged the move as a united Western position, with diplomats preparing to press for disarmament commitments.

Memorial services for William Andrews Clark Jr will be held Tuesday in Butte at St. John s Episcopal church starting 11 30 a m Pacific time. Los Angeles services at the same church will occur earlier at 10 30 a m local time. The body will be interred at Hollywood Cemetery in the Clark mausoleum after ceremonies.
A compact forecast for Montana predicts mostly fair weather over Sunday and Monday with little temperature change. Light breezes likely, no precipitation expected.
Hal Skelly famed stage and screen star died at 43 when a light truck he rode in to search for a lost dog at Major Merwin Lee's Baltimore estate was struck by a New York-bound freight train at a grade crossing. Helen Bell, the housekeeper, was injured. The incident occurred as Skelly and Bell traveled toward the scene after word of the dog’s discovery.
A tropical hurricane moving from the Gulf of Mexico caused deaths and widespread damage across eastern Louisiana. Two men were killed in separate incidents near Abbeville and Raceland as the storm weakened after crossing inland near Morgan City. Dozens were injured and millions in crops and property were damaged, with gales and flying debris reported in dozens of towns including Ferriday and the coastal area around Morgan City.
Helena June 16 J W Crowell 94 former guard in the Second Nebraska Cavalry died at his home. He crossed plains protecting wagon trains from Omaha to Fort Laramie and Fort Kearny after enlisting at Civil War outset. A native of East Liverpool Ohio he reenlisted after the war and in 1876 delivered 176 government horses to Fort Ellis Kansas. He helped build Bozeman’s first business block in 1873.
MARDIN June 16. The last unmarked plot of the Rosebud battle of June 17, 1876, is to receive a dedication and a plaque honoring General Crook and his men. The ceremony occurs in a remote Big Horn County site near Kirby post office, with government graves marking the historic conflict years after the clash that shaped the Big Horn campaign.
President Roosevelt said the National Recovery Act has lifted jobless numbers and ended child labor and starvation wages in the first year. He noted two million plus payrolls and celebrated NRA's first anniversary with General Johnson leading the program. The WV event marked state and national milestones with Governor Hack Dump present. An eagle watched from the stand as the message was delivered from Mount Hope.
Washington June 16 Congress pressed for action on major measures as adjournment neared. Senate leaders sought a farm mortgage moratorium and railroad labor legislation while housing, deficiency appropriation and labor arbitrat ion bills were nearly finished. Senator Robinson of Arkansas denounced obstruction as work neared a recess after long hours and urgent demands from President Roosevelt.
Police rushed to a Chicago College of Dental Surgery registrar's office when two armed men attempted a holdup. About 200 students surged in, overpowering the bandits who were beaten nearly unconscious before officers arrived. Dr. Robert McNulty and Miss Lora Dickinson were present during the attempt.
Governor William Langer of North Dakota and four co defendants were convicted by a federal district court jury at 12 14 a m today of charges of defrauding the United States government. The charge carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison or ten thousand dollars fine, or both.
The body of a blonde young dancer, nude, was found after a plunge from a fourth story window in Los Angeles at midnight. Identified as Juanita Pierce, 28, niece of J. G. Higginbotham, former Coconino county treasurer. Police say it appears to be suicide. friends report despondency.
Washington June 14 Major accomplishments of the second session of Congress included record appropriations totaling 5.2 billion dollars with over half for destitute aid, passage of the stock market control bill, reciprocal tariff authority, gold reserve act setting gold at 35 dollars an ounce and creating a 2 billion stabilization fund, silver purchase and bimetallic reserve, general revenue measures, communications control, mail contract reforms, treaty navy construction, farm relief measures, Home Owners’ Loan Corporation support, and crime bills granting federal power against organized crime. The board of county commissioners approved 301 judges to serve at voting booths for the July 17 primary. Five judges will work in larger precincts and three in smaller ones. The first three names in large precincts are Democratic, the rest Republican. in smaller precincts the first two are Democratic and the third Republican.
