Havre June 1 AP Governor Erickson opened the Montana Grain Growers convention with a proposal to store high protein Montana wheat through federal farm aid programs or bonded warehouses to preserve identity. State officials Stafford and Conrar joined, with elevator operator Oncer, Gowen and Carson presenting annual reports on price trends and store versus sell strategies.
New York June 16 AP Charles A Lindbergh contemplates a round trip flight to Europe using an inflatable rubber boat adapted to a sailplane style craft. He tests the device at the Morrow estate in Englewood New Jersey while Anne Morrow and family observe.
Eureka Mayor George P. Arnold stressed the need to conserve water while emergency measures continue. He praised City Engineer Tom Bogg and crews for restoring supply from the Bedrock line, though drought and aging facilities keep conservation essential. In Maine, June 16, Representative Wallace H. White Jr. and former Governor Ralph Brewster trailed in a close Republican U S Senate contest as returns from the primaries showed White with a narrow edge of about 2,090 votes with two thirds of the state reported. Governor William Tudor Gardiner led John Whitton by roughly 12,000 votes, assuring renomination. Daly Dewar noted in boxing terms as the race continued.

A mutilated body believed to be gangster Eugann Red McLaughlin was found in a Chicago canal near Lockport. The corpse showed decapitation and missing hands and feet as investigators work to identify the victim amid gangland violence tied to the Gearre Bigs Morgio faction.
