Severe rainfall and high winds caused extensive cherry crop damage across Weeroe County during a storm. Orchardists reported 90 percent or more damage from splitting and hail along fifteen miles of the Wile Creek area as river levels rose four feet near Mata and the Deschutes river. Local unions reported damage to ships and bridges.

He cites signs of a brighter mood in the Southwest and Northwest and favors Hoover's reelection. If the mood doesn’t lift soon he says the Republican party must work harder, a note continued on page 2.
In New York on June 15, Primo Carnera of Italy knocked out Pat Redmond of Ireland in the first round of a ten round bout before 20,000 spectators. The finish came at 2 minutes 24 seconds after a right to the jaw, with Carnera dominating and Redmond unable to steady himself. Redmond weighed about 246 pounds, Carnera around 275, and Ernie Schaal of Boston also scored a KO on the same card.
Reno, June 13. Amazing Rene, long known for spectacle, watched as two district judges cleared a record congested divorce calendar. Judge Curley alone granted 12 decrees in an hour and nearly 500 for the day. Moran’s court processed many new petitions and most cases were acted on before the capstone. Lawyers urged a new district court department to handle rising divorce caseloads.
Artist I A Foot ordered suppression of gambling with Attorney General guidance. J T R Wine, city commissioner of public safety, led a midnight cleanup of cigar stores and card rooms, summoning Patrolman Fred Gardner to supervise a targeted drive. All known or suspected gambling venues were visited and ordered closed with future enforcement promised.

San Francisco reports a massive blast planned five miles north of Keddie to clear a tunnel cut for the Western Pacific railroad's northern California extension. About 400000 tons of rock and earth are expected to be removed in the midday detonation next Wednesday, contracted to Utah Construction via Paul Taylor.

Florirical Products corporation of Washington posted a 14.8 percent rent income rise for the year ended May 31, 1931, despite a 28 cent decline in gale rates. Officials cited lingering contracts from earlier periods and new agreements as drivers. Total sales reached 600,803 dollars with Electrical Products of Montana, its subsidiary, up 46 percent in gross income. Washington grossed 529,452 dollars and Montana 146,057 dollars.
Seattle June 24 The department of agriculture reports that drought and heat will sharply reduce spring wheat in four Northwestern states. Montana's June 1 winter wheat estimate stands at 60 percent of normal, down 24 points from May 1, with Oregon and Washington also below average. Spring wheat figures show declines tied to arid conditions across the region, rain in eastern Washington offering little relief.
Chicago June 15. Al Capone’s lawsuit defense moved toward a not guilty plea after indictment charging income tax evasion and conspiracy. Attorney William F. Waugh said Capone would plead not guilty at tomorrow's arraignment. Elmer Irey, head of the IRS intelligence unit, described the government’s case as an iron-clad plea against the gangster.
Washington June 15 AP Chairman Stone said the Farm board will sell stabilization wheat abroad as long as it does not disturb the world market. If foreign demand remains strong, wheat will be offered to dispose of surplus stocks with minimal burden on competitors. The board last February set 35 400 000 bushels for sale abroad to clear terminals at seaboard ports. at least 5 000 000 bushels have been sold, with more as can be disposed of without affecting foreign markets.
San Diego June 15 The case of Alexander Pantages and three others on charges of conspiring to delinquency of a minor entered its final phase as arguments to the jury continued. The defense rested after cross examination of 10 minutes. Olive Clark Day and William Jobellmann testified for the defense while Shreve invoked witnesses and the prosecution made no rebuttal. The defense emphasized age of Miss Nitto and the purpose of Pantages meeting Jesse Shreve at the El Cortez hotel.
London June 15 The Labour government faced a surprise defeat on a minor Conservative land tax amendment by 282 to 205 as many Labour and Liberal MPs were absent The government quickly recovered and maintained control after closing debate by 246 to 232, ahead of a crucial Liberal finance bill vote.
