Mrs John F Stonel of Baltimore re elected president spoke on reform and prohibition themes as delegates debated the era’s social advances and industry.
Washington June 14 The House lands committee reported the Colton bill to authorize cooperative operation of oil deposits on public lands. The interior secretary would enter agreements with operators in cooperative units. Secretary Wilbur said participation would be voluntary but advantageous, noting potential royalities and government funds if drilling stayed unregulated.
An investigation into alleged movement of Indian girls from a Nebraska reservation to obtain evidence of Wyaver tow violations is to be made by Prohibition Commissioner Moran and Representative Sehater. They sought clarity on statements by Indian girls who said they had helped procure evidence for prohibition agents. Officials reported possible feeding of the girls on the northern Nebraska reservation but would check for agent involvement.
