Jimmie Mattern travels through Siberia ending near Khabarovsk after a forced retreat about 100 miles south of the city. He faced delays and difficulties during his expedition toward Kedah or Khabarovsk, with competition and navigation issues noted as he attempted to take off again.
Five Peranak drowned as extreme heat swept New York City on June 11. A portion of travel and relief funds were directed to Coney Island and Rockaway. 104 children were rescued and three bathers were detained. The city faced record heat with temperatures around 84 degrees.
Sheriff George Corry and City Marshal Paul Mardy are abducted by two men and a woman after a wreck north of Wellington. The trio forced the officers into a car, handcuffed them, and drove toward Frick as the wounded Pritchard woman received aid. In Richmond Virginia Sacob Glick killed his brother Solomon with a knife, stabbed Solomon’s wife in the chest, and after slashing his own throat and left arm, leaped from a second floor window to die before bystanders. A nephew was released from a state hospital days earlier. Mrs Glick survived her injuries.
Members of a high school band from Menasha Wisconsin collapsed from heat exhaustion during a parade on the Contipy oof Progress gros. Several remained unconscious for a time and were treated at the emergency hospital. one was in critical condition. The band had participated in Evanston events yesterday where heat affected about 150 people. most recovered and were sent home today.
Tolendo Oregon on June 11 authorities permit use of old style lawn mowers on school grounds for summer grounds to keep grass down. Cows will be used instead of tractors to trim the area as a trial, with no refunds expected.
Pillomath Ora June 11 A known prohibition campaigner Aly named Pussfoot Johnson sustained minor injuries in a car crash on the Newport Corvallis highway. The automobile overturned after skidding in gravel. Johnson was a passenger.

A 24 year old woman identified as Miss Catherinn M Dietz jumped from an 18th floor hotel window in Manhattan after telephoning a Pensacola office and asking for a story about suicide. Her body fell seventeen stories to a court area where a witness alerted the manager. Police reported no marriage between Miss Dietz and a man listed as Arthur F Ray of Queens.
Washington reports nearly 1 billion dollars in public works eyed under a new industrial control and public construction bill.
