Attorney General Saleh HY urged Montana county attorneys to press sheriffs and peace officers to stop gamblers targeting gas line crews. Letters went to Glacier, Flathead, Lewis and Clark, Powell, Deer Lodge, Silver Bow and surrounding counties asking for prompt action to safeguard workers and their earnings from predatory schemes.
District Prohibition Administrator Carl Jackson stated he has not received word that John Madden, assistant prohibition administrator at Dodge City, Kansas, will come to Seattle to become assistant administrator as reported in dispatches from Dodge City.

Nashville June 9 The Tennessee house of representatives debated impeachment against Governor Henry J Horton as four banks failed and tied up roughly seven million dollars of state funds. After a four month probe the house voted 46 to 40 to reject seven articles of impeachment and dismiss the case.
Nanking reports a united appeal from about 200 Shanghai business leaders urging national harmony to prevent bloodshed industrial stagnation and famine from civil conflict. Rebels in Canton threaten Yangtse valley forces as factional strife drains support and risks broader upheaval.
New York June. Teras Guinan, the cabaret queen, vows to sue France after being detained at Le Havre with 33 show girls and musicians for five days due to lack of labor permits. She traveled across the Atlantic hoping to reach a Paris nightclub, but was held and then sent back. Guinan claims humiliation and says she may sue and even faced offers to marry her to bypass barriers.
The Agriculture Department forecasts winter wheat at 49 million bushels, down about 3.9 million from May 1 due to adverse growing conditions. Spring wheat prospects are far poorer, with low conditions and drought hurting growth. May rainfall remained deficient in central and western regions amid temperature extremes and late frosts.

Also, in Spokane a Sandpoint man accidentally wounded himself with a shotgun and remains near death in the hospital.
A C Townley, famed as the 1918 Non Partisan league founder, emerges as a leader in a new Northwest nonpartisan effort. He urges a five year moratorium on all interest payments to counter business depression, arguing current monopoly and centralization threaten reform and could spark unrest.
London June 9 AP Eight American women joined British debutantes at Buckingham Palace for the first of two June courts. King George and Queen Mary hosted in the scarlet and gold state room as peers and royals greeted the American party. The list includes Mrs Charles E. Sea Wieck Jr of New York and several other prominent women.
Jefferson Ohio June 3 Mrs Julia Maude Lowther 23 convicted of first degree murder of Mrs Clack Simith 27 of Ashtabula. Jury failed to recommend mercy mandating death in the electric chair. Lowther first woman to face Ohio death chair, confessed the shooting amid claims the victim and husband Tiby Smith 27 plotted the ambush.
