A dispatch from Basle and Berlin says Bela Kun and the Hungarian Soviet government face Allied demands for unconditional resignation. The allied negotiator Colonel Cunningham reportedly received a proposal for voluntary Soviet withdrawal and a new government, sent to the supreme council at Tari.
During Mamoun De Valera's San Francisco visit, Captain Arthur Snagge, British embassy naval attache in Washington, stated the flag of the Irish republic would be lowered at the St Francis Hotel and promised to prevent royal British visitors from stopping there.
State fair directors meet in Helena to finalize preparations for the solitary exposition. President Pat Capney and Directors Sid J. Coffee and W. M. Biggs, with Secretary Horace S. Fusign, examined attractions held in abeyance and discussed revisions. Proceedings continue on page 5.
The postmaster general announces a nationwide sale of surplus foodstuffs including canned vegetables and meats. About 141,000,000 pounds will be offered at reduced prices within a week, with distribution limited to available supply and postage charges. By Associated Press Salem Massachusetts January 34 The senator says if the peace treaty is rejected the Senate will fail to ratify. He warns American delegates must travel to Paris again and the nation may face renewed tensions and delays in postwar diplomacy.
Congress would oppose any export of arms into Mexico under a Hudspeth proposal. The measure argues embargo exceptions should not apply and calls for a formal congressional record against all shipments. President Wilso n issued a proclamation restricting weapons and matériel to Mexico to be sent only under state department limits.
Roland Rohlfs, civilian aviator, piloting from Roosevelt Field Mineola New York, reached 30 700 feet in an official flight setting a new American altitude record.
Mexico City July 36 AP. The district court ordered the arrest of American Davia Mocris, general superintendent of the express system, and Felipe Pescador, former general director of the Mexican National Railways, after investigation into railroad financial irregularities.
Senator Tom Larson led in attacking Senate Bill No 3 under the new county classification plan, arguing it blocks county creation and would delay any revenue proceeds. He warned the measure could derail adjournment and provoke a broad lobby of county splitters. The session opened with nine bills and resolutions, including SB No 1 establishing a state litigation commission and irrigation district reforms, while other bills progressed to page seven.
Associate Press reports Warren S. Stone, head of the locomotive engineers union, urging government action to reduce the cost of living. He said engineers must accept wage increases to cope with rising prices, but favor nationwide measures to lower living costs. The proposal comes after advisory discussions with brotherhood members.
Democratic National Committee chairman Cummings met with President Wilson to assess the 1920 political climate and public view of the peace treaty and the League of Nations. He described observations from a two month tour through fourteen western states during a half hour conference, the first since December.

An executive session reviewed relief options including a proposed drive fund and other methods. Former Governor Edwin Norris was invited to share water and power insights, as Ronald Wiggins leads a Republican committee drafting resolutions.
Sergeant Alvin York, famed as a war hero, plans to dedicate his life to educating young men and women in Tennessee’s mountain regions. He proposes creating the “York University” to further this aim with support for tribal aged mountain communities.
In the Montana legislature the irrigation district bill was introduced by Rasmussen. The House opened its session with swift, orderly work approving two appropriations totaling 30 000 for member mileage and per diem. Sam Treloar pushed a resolution to Congress supporting Sen ate Resolution No 64 exempting miners from assessment work this year. Washington July 30 The railroad administration and grain corporations will implement a blanket permit system starting August 1 for this year’s grain crop. If the plan fails to control flow to elevator capacity, the individual permit system may be used instead.
The Canadian government announced it will buy and market the wheat crop of 191% for the season. Wheat will be sold at world prices, with proceeds divided among original sellers. Speculation and profiteering will be prohibited.
