Miles City Montana 14 up to date report of a coal mine fire in Pine Hills 17 miles from town. Owner Jon Schlappert watched an eight man crew fight the blaze for two days and report the fire could not be contained. He suffered burns while battling the flames and said the fire started at the bottom of a 90 foot shaft and another point about 200 feet into the tunnel. State Fire Marshal Arthur Parsons was notified but his office had no resources to fight the blaze and suggested outside help might be needed.
