The Montana commission has wired its request for a hearing to the Interstate Commerce Commission and asks every state in the Northwest to join. The hearing aims to settle low hay and grain rate disputes before harvest time, with the commission hoping the ICC will pass on the issue.
Manchester resident Professor C J Budlong says Tantac transformed his health after thirty years of rheumatism and multiple ailments. He describes relief from pain and weakness, regained appetite and digestion, and a weight gain of about fifteen pounds, with renewed energy.
Salvation Army staff were guests at luncheons hosted by Rotary and the Women's Division of the Commercial Club. Wesley Hart was found guilty by a jury in Justice of the Peace Kinge's court on a charge of failing to support his infant. He received a suspended 60 day county jail sentence contingent on immediate arrears payment and monthly support. Deputy County Attorney George W. Padbury Jr. led the state's case.
Washington July 1 Senate and house conferees reached agreement on the naval appropriation bill after yielding on minor amendments and preserving retained cec jtrin amendments opposed by the house. The measure is to be submitted to both houses Monday for final approval.
J M Glemaits United district arte fourth. The steamship Victoria arrived after eight days from Nome with Unge Clements on board. He is not considered seriously ill and will rest at home in Helena for the summer, with plans to be active again soon.
Wilbur Hazen, a valley rancher, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in cost plainy filed in Justice of Peace Lemkie's court. Bail fixed at 500 dollars. Hazen to furnish bond today after his arrest Tuesday evening over the death of nine year old Ernest McLeod, nephew of City Commissioner John D. McLeod, from injuries after Hazen's motorcycle and sidecar overturned at Broadway and Montana avenue. GRAB CHINESE stowaways aboard the Antilles steamer Ausable were taken into custody at Galveston after docking from Havana, Cuba.

Chester Davis announces William L. Shovel, longtime Bitter Root fruit grower, as successor to J Wood as chief of the division of horticulture in the Montana department of agriculture. Wood to stay on as director of shipments and orchard protection efforts during apple packing and shipping season.
Peggy Hopkins Joyce was awarded 350 pounds monthly alimony, 27500 solicitors fees and 1251 for suit expenses today by Judge Sabbath in the superior court. Mrs Joyce had requested temporary alimony of 10000 pounds per month and attorney fees of 100000 pounds.
Nils P. Haugen, acting assistant to the state board of education, has formally resigned his post at a salary of 6006 per year. The unofficial notice appeared two days earlier, but Governor Dixon did not publicly release the letter until yesterday. Haugen cites ill health as the reason, expressing thanks and willingness to assist in the future if possible.
Chicago July 8 a 50 000 000 pool will back relief for the livestock industry with rediscounting of cattle paper at federal reserve banks. Approved by the Federal Reserve Board the plan allows six months for original cattle paper rediscounting with renewals possible. Papers will be deposited with the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank for allocation on rediscount. Applications for loans over 1 000 000 already received.
