Rex Scott a 20 year old African American was abducted by masked leaders of an armed mob and hanged from a beech tree in Cornett Hill graveyard Knott county. The mob removed him from Perry county jail and he died with about 40 bullet wounds while Alex Johnson a miner died after being slugged. Sheriff and jailer were assaulted as the mob seized keys and liberated Scott before the lynching.
A Calcutta dispatch reports death tolls exceeding 2,200 across three British Indian provinces including Nepal aims, with estimates from the Rajah of Monghisi at 25,000.
