Associated Press reports testimony in the Morehouse parish case linking Captain J K Skipwith to a 4 August kidnapping of Daniel and Richard, whose bodies were found December 22 in Lake La Fourche. Jinot, N D Jan 23 Police tidbit say a prisoner named Ferguson escaped the city jail after striking Desk Sergeant Bakeman. Ferguson and accomplice Brown were being held on habeas corpus for a Montana robbery case. Chinook authorities had him among the most wanted, and he allegedly fled while the sergeant was calling a trusted prisoner.
Frank Kneeskorn was found guilty of first degree murder in Charles City Iowa for the Irene Van Brocklin case. The jury imposed life imprisonment with ten days to file an appeal. Kneeskorn showed no emotion. the slain girl’s mother fainted and Rachael Rice cried out. Kneeskern had been free on a $40000 bond during the trial since January 3 on a venue change.
Five people perished in a hotel fire at the Davies hotel in Homestead near Wittsburg. The blaze caused about $15,000 in property loss. Victims: Mrs John Winnie and her children Inez 6, Catherine 13, and Davies hotel proprietor Thomas le Davies.
