Great Falls January 16 an elaborate whiskey still was found in a basement at Cascade tied to John Irvine’s farm 17 miles northwest. Deputies seized the plant and 14 quarts of high grade moonshine while Irvine and neighbor Barthel face liquor manufacture charges. Bail set at 1000. trial details filed in justice court.
In Wolf Creek the Angsty basketball team faced Stearns in a day night game. The score stood tight at FT to FG in the late minutes as Augustin led the victors with strong play. In Great Falls Jam on Saturday Andre W Kal ska of Jack Eagle faced charges after a theft from a wagon. His sobbing tale failed to sway police as victim Robert Johnson refused to testify. Officers found sugar coffee honey and lard in a home tied to Kal ska and his son. Kal ska, a former dry land farmer, and family were caught near the cache with further loot hidden in the residence. A young man, Nick Hayfield, allegedly assaulted a young Miller girl near Main street as two strangers rode by on NOR and fled. Police court filed disturbance charges. the case was postponed as the frightened girl recovered. Witnesses identify Layfield as the assailant. reports say women have faced similar harassment and public outrage grows.
Great Falls January 16 announcement by County Attorney H. G. Beau net and deputies that they will no longer participate personally in raids. The office will defer raids to the sheriff and his force, offering to assist with evidence on request when justified.
Twenty F S L seaplanes finished a San Diego to canal zone flight in 17 flying days. One fatality occurred when Chief Radio Electrician Cain was killed at Monseca Bay after being struck by a propeller. The remaining two aircraft of the squadron were due to arrive today amid squalls and river crossings.
A severe Robinsook wind struck Friday afternoon in Burlington. The Great Northern railway yards and several outbuildings suffered damage with roofs blown off and debris scattered. The Bank building was wrecked. houses and wiring were damaged. electricity and street lighting were disrupted. Wind velocity estimated 40 to 80 mph. temperatures rose to 45 above zero.
