Ruth Snyder and lover Henry Judd Gray were executed in Ossining New York for the murder of her husband. Snyder died at 11 16 PM after three 2200 volt shocks, Gray at 11 14 PM. Witnesses reported prayers and biblical quotes, a Catholic priest performing rites as the two paid for the crime.
New York January 12 AP desperate last minute legal moves failed to stop the planned electric chair executions of Ruth Snyder and Judd Gray. Federal judges denied habeas corpus writs and Supreme Court Justice Levy vacated his stay order, leaving Sing Sing authorities prepared to proceed despite lingering uncertainty.

Fremount Nebraska January reports that a car was struck by a train, igniting flames and killing three people. The deceased include Herman Bogemeyer of Howells Nebraska his wife Mildred Bogemeyer their six year old daughter and Mrs Frank Bush of Howells the sister in law of the Bogemeyers.
The mutilated body of Dorothy Schneider, five, kidnapped from Mount Morris, was found in a creek three miles away. Dr. R. Brasie, coroner, suspects an escaped mental patient instigated the murder. A statewide manhunt and cordon were set, with highways closed and police alerted as sheriffs and citizens scour the area.
The body of a young blonde woman known as Mrs Betty Chambers was discovered sprawled under blood stained pillows in a north side Chicago apartment. Police believe she was murdered with a cord around the neck and a deep neck wound from a sharp instrument.
