In Bugons Ore deputies report a jar of liquor labeled white mule exploded in a spring Island restaurant. The blast damaged the building and harmed a cook, shattering brass windows and spraying debris and fire. Sheriff’s office was alerted as patrons fled.

In Philadelphia on January 11 about 100 men robbed a three story labor union building. The $1000 plus theft occurred across three floors while robbers beat a man and escaped in an automobile. One victim was forced into the car and driven away.

Kansas City Jan 31 Louis J Cherry an engineer ten day into circuit court admitted husband of three women and soon after a fourth wife was added. Wives Myrtle Cherry in San Diego Amy A Cherry in north Kansas City and Alleene Cherry plus a common law wife. One son from the marriage to Myrtle. Divorce proctor had granted Myrtle a Dec 10 divorce by default. Cherry later wed Alleene in Harrisonville Mo and Amy A Cherry was learned of by the proctor. Judge Kebhorn cited concealment and fraud for the Dec 10 decree. Cherry faces ongoing trouble as his hysterical north Kansas City wife threatens self harm.
Eighteen army planes on a midwinter training flight from Helfridge Field to Spokane arrived late at Minot. Major Royce announced the squadron would depart Havre and Great Falls, Montana, between 9 and 10 a m tomorrow, weather permitting. A broken ski forced repairs on a plane at Grand Forks, and another transport refueled at Bemidji before rejoining the group.

Rio de Janeiro January 11. Ten people including seven men and three women died when lightning struck a plant at Fazenda San Antonio near Asxis in the state of San auto. In Campton Kentucky a Goodyear Puritan blimp crashed into a tree while en route from Akron to Gasden. Both occupants escaped unharmed as the pilot W L Smith and navigator Aggmat O O Neil climbed out. The craft brushed wires near Ashland before turning southwest, the crew noting they did not realize how close to the ground they were. The airship sustained minor damage to the hull and the balloon ruptured, deflated, and tore.
