Indianapolis December 31. Lorenz reported Frank Stevens father and son were electrocuted yesterday when the elder Stevens touched a derrick that struck a high tension wire. The son was killed while aiding his father as he touched the same surface. Two other workmen burned removing the bodies.
A 50-year-old commercial artist Theodore Rebels fell seven stories from a window in a New York building on December 31. He reportedly opened the window and plunged to the sidewalk, narrowly missing several pedestrians as building workers told police.
The New Year 1928 was welcomed with loud whistles and lively city celebrations. At the Montana Club over 20 attended a New Year Eve party with dancing cards and Sheridan's Missoula orchestra. Deputy District Attorney Clifford Thome will present Dr. Charles M. McMiWen to the county grand jury for a murder indictment in the slaying of Mrs. Amelia Appleby, widow of a Chicago inventor. Cincinnati December 31. A motion to obtain a new sanity test for George Remus and his release on bond was filed in probate court but Judge William H. Lueders postponed action until next Tuesday. Remus counsel Charles H. Elston said the move is to perfect the record for an appeal from the judge’s ruling that Remus is sane.
Modest, California report says four hundred Scouts are stranded by heavy snow. Rescue teams pushed through a snowbound Sierra trail toward a camp of 25 Boy Scouts and a group marooned forty-two miles above, with 42 mules aiding. The party left Pine Crest and trudged three miles to Pickerings Lumber camp No. Q, twelve miles above Long Barn, digging all day to reach the stranded group.
Mr and Mrs A J Gideon pioneer residents of Missoula were killed when their automobile was struck by the Chicago Milwaukee and Saint Paul train No 17 at a crossing west of the city The vehicle was demolished and parts lay along the right of way The 65 year old Mr Gideon had come to Missoula in 1938 from Bath Ohio and married to Miss Maud Lockley of Butte He was a noted Montana architect and retired from active business in 1909.

The heavily loaded train carried timber and minerals and ran off a curve between Deadwood and Nemo, S. D.
