Colonel Henry Latrobe Roosevelt, assistant secretary of the navy and cousin of the president, died in Washington at 67 from an acute heart attack after being treated for intestinal influenza at Naval hospital. Born October 6 1879 in Starrstown NT, he served as acting secretary of the navy during Secretary Swansea’s leave.
A searching party in Fort Collins Colorado located the body of 2 year old Albert Delehoy near the Cache la Poudre river today. The child had been missing and a rescue effort used axes and tools to tear through ice in the search. The discovery ends the frantic search by local volunteers and authorities.
The Snoqualmie Pass snowslide buried a half mile of Cascade slopes trapping trucks and a passenger bus. Edwin Miller 23 Redmond and William Gill 23 Bothell were found dead. Harold Deveraux 34 Yakima was rescued after six hours buried with his truck. Covey Gustafson of Portland and a party were unharmed. Dr. Clayton Wangman Ellensburg escaped uninjured. Blizzard hampered rescue as hundreds of skiers were stranded and a skiing meet near North Bend was canceled. Deveraux recalled stopping to regulate radiator shutters when the slide hit.
Governor Harold G Hoffman questioned witness Millard Whited over his identification of Bruno Hauptmann near the Lindbergh home and suggested the reward promise might have influenced the claim. Hauptmann faces execution the week of March 30 and a second reprieve was not ruled out.

The writer claims knowledge of where the unrecovered fortune is buried, following a deathbed confession attributed to a man connected to the case.
Postmaster General James A. Farley, in Topeka, praised Roosevelt as America’s savior and challenged any party to meet the record. He attacked New Deal critics, especially Herbert Hoover and the American Liberty League, noting Kansas salary cuts for teachers and college staff as a point of concern.
Cambridge Mass February 22 President Roosevelt attended the Harvard club Fly tonight as his youngest son John was initiated. The president cut short his visit due to the death in Washington of Henry L Roosevelt cousin and assistant secretary of the navy. He planned to join Mrs Roosevelt at Hyde Park and then accompany her to Washington for the funeral.
Beaver Dam Wisconsin report that Rudolph Holley, 26, captured in Montana after a snowbound pursuit in below zero weather, will be brought up Tuesday for a preliminary hearing on a charge of first degree murder. District Attorney EB Schumacher said Holley, who froze both feet in Montana, and three others are implicated in the slaying of Albert Hantely at the All Astro tavern on August 9, 1954.
