Balth has been missing from West Terre Haute since last Sunday. A blood stained sleeve found under a highway bridge 40 miles south suggests kidnapping and murder. A grocer said she bought gum last Sunday then got into a car with a man waiting. Hundreds search through snow with planes overhead as Vigo County officials and volunteers scour the area near Terre Haute. A reward totaling 1000 dollars was offered for Edith's safe return.
The house approved three bills and read investigative reports on the state school for the deaf and blind and feeble minded. Washington January 31 The House rejected a motion to prevent a deficiency supply measure from going to conference after a 240 to 14% vote. The panel then overrode opposition and sent the bill to conference, supporting the addition of 24 million dollars to the prohibition enforcement fund per Senate action.
John D Rockefeller Sr issued a statement from New York affirming agreement with his son on removing Col Robert W Stewart from the chairmanship of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana.

Airmail pilot Eugene Dee was found dead beside his Travelair airplane wreckage in the mountains near Morgantown West Virginia. The plane, traveling from Cleveland to Pittsburgh, was discovered by searchers who had followed the missing aircraft since last night. The mail bag remained intact.

Pueblo January 131 AP Three patients confined to the criminal insane ward of the state hospital who escaped this morning were captured late today at Cedarwood. After hospital officials staged a thrilling raving automobile with a freight train which the men had boarded at Minnegta a suburb they were taken off without difficulty and returned to their ward. The three men are Harry I Markley 20 formerly of Bruth Cole Edward O Block 23 formerly of Denver and Robert Gordon 23 involved in a Rio Grande County robbery last September.

C T Stewart former secretary of State of Montana died early today of a stroke. He had been at his office up to yesterday death occurred at his residence 812 Tower street. Funeral arrangements are in the hands of Opp and Conrad. Stewart was a prominent figure in state affairs and president of W M Biggs fire insurance in Helena. He is survived by his widow and one son Edgar.
Rock Springs Wyoming January 31 two mail carriers Joe Sager and Charles Mus vie who operate the Rock Springs to Pinedale mail run were found after a 24 hour search. A mail plane was sent from Rock Springs to aid and difficult terrain hindered rescue efforts. The pair was located safe, ending a tense search across the rugged 100 mile route to Pinedale.
Lonlon Jan 34 AP W Bridgeman first lord of the admiralty voiced confidence in the United States as a peaceloving nation and said the current talks in America are not a threat to Britain. He urged no criticism of U S naval needs and argued future peace rests with mutual trust rather than aggressors. Britain would go further in disarmament if others agree to do the same.
