Gaston county farmer T. W. Vanderburg died in his home fire near here along with other family members. A coroner's jury heard that his son Jacob Sandenburgh, 17, the only survivor, was held without bond.

Soprano Irene Pavloska of the Chicago Civic Opera married Dr. Maurice Elias Meistow after signing a five year alimony contract to his former wife following a divorce and a court proceeding. The ceremony occurred in Judge Harry Fisher's county building chambers amid press presence.
In Luggaville Alabama on December 2 seven African American workers at the Hemp Hill lumber camp were injured when a six year old son of J M Rhoades the company secretary treasurer fired a shotgun at the pay window. The child reportedly mishandled the loaded gun and triggered the blast injuring the workers, some seriously.
