Courts 70 Decide Board Right To Pay George Rietz
State board members faced an injunction preventing any award to George A. Nietz as to whether the board of examiners may audit and determine the claim from 1923. Judge W H Poofman set December 28 for return. The suit asks if the board should arbitrate the amount and who bears liability for payment. The case stems from Nietz being injured in an elevator shaft mix up at South Hall while a student at the State university. The legislature capped the claim at 7500. Two key issues: whether the board may defer to judicial sanctions and whether the claim is against the state or the South Hall contractor. Scottish Rite. A special meeting of all the Scottish Rite bodies will be held this evening at 8 oclock. Important business. By order of the masters. C B Pfeiffer Secy.
