Bozeman Aug 12. William A Farrell 47 a county road worker killed himself by drinking poison early this morning after driving his cat to the county yards where the machines he operated were stored. A letter to his wife said We can't stand it any longer and gave burial instructions. Financial worries were thought to drive him to the act.

Havre night officers search for three inmates who escaped from the county jail by sawing from a window early today. Ceanl Mummy of Dodson Joe Mehards of Harlem Andrew Githert of Hogeland fled while another man helped pose as federal prohibition agents in a burglary case from January. The jail corridor was accessible and guards were not alerted. Sheriff R C Timmona was away on vacation.

Oconomowoc Wisconsin August 12 deputized guards were posted at the entrance to Thoges Isle the summer home of Bir and Mrs Wiehud McCulloch of St Louis. Rumors said a kidnapping was feared after an automobile with several strangers visited the island several times last week. The guards kept the bridge tending to rotate now occupied by Mr and Mrs McCulloch and their son Robert.
In Havana on August 12, mobs killed twenty one and wounded over two hundred as celebrations of Machado's abdication sparked chaos. Homes of officials were looted and burned. three killed and 25 wounded in Santiago as mobs attacked government targets. General staff bans most traffic and orders cars to halt at commands.
Secretary Wallace says the wheat acreage reduction campaign began August 4 will succeed if farmers cooperate. He notes contracts to sign agreements to cut wheat acreage up to 20 percent for harvests in 1921 and 1925 will begin when the official reduction is announced. Washington Aug 12 API President Roosevelt approves Loup Vet of state engineers enabling the Public Works Administration to act on non federal project funding. Emergency staff kept, some vacancies remaining as engineers join advisory boards assisting with applications before the Washington board reviews requests led by Secretary Ickes. Offices to be housed in state spaces with transfers of engineers from state ranks. Montana appointment to be announced later.

AP staff eyewitnesses violent mob storming the presidential palace in Havana. Crowds ransack the building, loot furniture, arrest by troops, and even kill a pig found in a crate. Mob later moves to the palace gardens and embassy area, driving soldiers to restore order, before the scene shifts to a quieter lull pending continuation.
High winds fanned powder dry timber as the Upper Bitter Root National Forest faced its fourth major blaze in a week. Conservation corps crews, 175 strong, rushed from Allen ranger station and Burnt Fork camps toward Medicine Springs to battle flames a mile from Sheephead Place. Pack animals and supplies moved in as firefighters hiked six to seven miles to reach the outbreak, with 40 days of drought leaving the woods highly inflammable.
