Buffalo Minnesota August news reports stockholders approve Pierce Arrow Motor Car reorganization. Studebaker will hold an interest and back the new company supplying parts and distribution. Allied interests cover about 200 million dollars assets, creating a major motor industry group. Erskine states progress awaits consolidation and details before final action.
Denver Aug 7 Immediate organization of eight Rocky Mountain states under regional director Fred W Johnson will begin. Headquarters will open in Salt Lake City next week. State chairmen will meet at a later site to map plans for a strong Smith Robinson campaign.

In Rio de Janeiro on August 7, Major Carlo P Del Prete and Captain Ave turo Ferrarin, famed for a recent nonstop flight from Rome to Brazil, were seriously injured in a school of aviation accident. Del Prete sustained fractures to both legs while Ferrarin injured his neck. a Brazilian mechanic accompanying them was also hurt.
In Missouri, Democratic candidate Charles M. Hay of St Louis leads with about 16 900 votes over James A Collett of Salisbury in the Democratic senatorial race as returns from 596 of 3 134 precincts come in Kansas City Patterson holds a slim margin over David M Proctor in the Republican contest with about 2000 votes separating them as Kansas primary results continue.
Anxiety rose as a hurricane hovered offshore off West Palm Beach causing a 60 mile gale. The city and Palm Beach were dark, streets deserted, with torrential rains washing away signs and uprooting trees. The weather center placed the storm east-southeast of Jupiter, moving toward open sea as intensity appeared to rise.
Representative Evans of California will supervise the Hoover campaign in Tennessee as the Republican National Committee initiates a regional drive in the South. Evans, a Laurel County Kentucky native, will establish a headquarters in Nashville and organize a state meeting on August 10. He forecast Hoover winning Tennessee by 590,009 and urged a nonpartisan national unity.
Washington Aug. 7 The debate centered on the law enforcement planks in the Democratic and Republican platforms. Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt and Mrs Mabel Walker Willebrandt spoke from Greenhills as part of Governor Smiths advisory committee for women and a Hoover supporter. The discussion opened with the service program of the Nation.
New York August 7 Ida M Tardell author and lecturer has been appointed to the women's advisory board of the Democratic National Committee led by former Governor Nellie Tayloe Ross of Wyoming. The Stith headquarters statement said Miss Tarbell, a lifelong Republican, would take part in the campaign.

The Italian submarine F-14 with a 31 crew died from poisonous gas after a collision sank in the Adriatic, 151 feet deep. Salvagers, who raised the sub, found sealed hatches and the crew already dead. Signals ceased earlier in the day, indicating a fatal outcome.

Senator Heflin condemned attacks on southern ministers and the Democratic Party line, calling tactics un-American and unexcusable. He warned against threats to curb rights and criticized support for ministers opposing Ger Smith as part of party politics.
