Pioneer Resident Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack
Gheis Endress a 78 year old Pioneer resident of 440 West Main Street died last night at St Johns Hospital after suffering two heart attacks. Born in Wurlenburg Germany on June 18th 1861 he came to Helena in the early 1890s and moved to Magdalena Dietrich in Wartenburg in 1389. He was a city employee for many years and is survived by his widow two daughters Mrs Cris Feteht of St Ignatius and Mrs Thomas Martin of Helena a son William Endress of Helena and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The body is in the Oppatt Conrad funeral home with services pending.

Washington Aug. 4 The American merchant fleet has grown from about 10 500 000 deadweight tons before Pearl Harbor to 26 000 000 deadweight tons now. The Maritime Commission reports new construction in the first seven months of 1942 totaling 10 485 500 deadweight tons, about 250 percent higher since Pearl Harbor. Production in seven months this year exceeds all of 1942 by nearly 2 500 000 deadweight tons, and yards must deliver about 8 500 000 deadweight tons in the remaining five months to meet the year’s goal.
