Governor Dixon waives politics and asks Vidal to remain at Galen as authorities confirm ongoing control and stability at the Sanitarime facility.
Dr. C B Vidal is reappointed by Governor Dixon to a four year term as head of the Galen tuberculosis sanitarium. Vidal, a World War Army medical corps veteran, rose from Great Falls practice to national recognition and once served as a major. He and his son both served in France, meeting on a battlefield amid shelling. An hour sale at The Hub follows the appointment news.
The state board resolved to keep the historical library open for May and June despite a $600 four month appropriation shortfall. A clerk from the legislative reference bureau will work in the library to maintain operations, while Florence Wortune will resume as librarian with one assistant instead of two when funding resumes July first.
The Knox peace resolution faces sharp criticism in Senate debate with Senators Nelson Underwood and Borah weighing in. Nelson calls it halting and urges firmer support for reparations and disarmament. Underwood calls it inopportune and risky to allies as talks on reparations continue.
Fire swept through the Golden State Woolen Mills plant in Long Beach California early today causing damage estimated over 500000 dollars. The blaze destroyed the main building and substantial raw materials as investigators begin to determine the cause.

At adjournment 5 p m yesterday in department 2 Judge A J Horsky presiding the trial before a jury of Peter Rundak of East Helena on the charge of violating the estate prohibition law was not completed. Examination of defense witnesses will be resumed this morning. State witnesses were Detectives M J Ryan and Ray Simmons on the stand long under cross examination. Defense witnesses Nick Maronick and Jake Tyanith testified to contradict the state.
In East Helena N C Stebbins, 56, president of Red Wing Milling Co and longtime Minnesota milling figure, died suddenly at his home. He had no whisky at the time. Survived by a widow and three daughters. Also follows a note to meet a friend at the Grand Hotel in Butte.
