Foch informs allies that the crisis over troops hiring through Poland has passed safely. The agreement involves German forces and Polish access, with the broader Allied clarification on regional security.
Paris April 5 The right of the Allies to use the port of Danzig for the return to Poland of Polish troops in France was formally upheld in talks with German representatives. Marshal Foch telegraphed allied governments and proposed a follow up meeting with Matthias Fürstberger if Polish troop transport through Germany faced difficulties. The counter-proposal was rejected.
A War Risk bureau program will provide treatment for disabled soldiers after discharge. Twenty one hospitals with about 4300 beds are in use, with disabled veterans able to apply for care at Public Health Service stations. The plan covers disabilities from service, including tuberculosis, and aims to treat up to 25000 discharged cases if needed.

In Archangel April, Allied troops mainly British and Russian repelled a large Bolshevik assault in the Sreden Mekrenga area. American patrols harassed the retreating enemy as shells pounded Botshaia Quora. The defeat left numerous Bolshevik dead near Allied blockhouses.
Berlin reports that Hungarians will be classified into three groups under the peace time exchange. Intellectual workers receive 7200 dollars, merchants and industrial workers 5000, and laborers 4000. The state will bridge the gaps to a minimum set by the government.
The Montana Supreme Court dismissed Dunn and McCarthy’s bid to place their names on Butte mayor and treasurer ballots as independent nominees. The district court had already ruled Captain William Cutts the Democrat nominee for mayor and Charles Treacy the party treasurer candidate. An Associated Press report from Seattle dated April 5 describes a dynamite blast in the powder house at the Pacific Coast Coal Company mine in Issaquah Washington. The explosion wrecked windows of about 75 to 100 workers homes and caused glass damage to the mine facility.
Spokane reports the arrest of John L. Metcalf, veteran Republican delegate from Stevens County and former state official, on charges of criminal syndicalism. The case follows earlier actions against Harry Abbots of Wortland, alleged organizer of a local "soviet" network. Detective involvement centers on alleged disloyal actions and calls for the release of political prisoners tied to TWOW radicals.
Representatives of the railroad administration and the industrial board of the department of commerce conferred for five hours today without reaching an agreement as to the steel price schedule approved by the board and the industry. One member of the board said nothing occurred to indicate a revision of its policy.
Only a few cases of sleeping sickness had been reported to the U S public health service by March 29. Officials of the bureau were undecided whether the epidemic strain prevalent in Europe had reached the United States.

The trip includes a tank day with stops in Miles City Forsyth Billings Columbus and more, aiming to attract visitors and support the loan campaign.
Secretary Baker will submit a comprehensive program to revise army legal procedure covering courts martial when Congress reconvenes. Major General Crowder, judge advocate general, left for Cuba. Baker said he prepared amendments to court martial regulations to remedy defects exposed in cases before the department and in the Crowder Ansell controversy.
A wireless dispatch reports the steamer Maha sinking 25 miles offshore from Marshfield Oregon in April. The steamer Oleon remained alongside, likely to rescue the crew. The Idaho recently traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific, carrying a load of one million feet of timber. Severe storms are blamed for the disaster.
