A traumatic Grace Crossing collision claimed the lives of the Grimes family, including Giant Grimon, 39, Fornella Grimen, 33, and Virginia Grimen, 3 months, when their stalled motor vehicle on the track was struck by a fast train. The incident, witnessed by a passerby, ended a family of seven.

Three men robbed a Catholic society meeting in Waness City chopping away about 2500 dollars from the secretary and fleeing after a scuffle with Presting police. Witnesses described intruders moving through five secretaries desks while a bystander alerted authorities as they escaped in a police car.

Los Angeles records three slight earthquakes felt today. They were of minor intensity and caused no damage, continuing the sequence of tremors since the major shock on March 10.
In Milwaukee on April 2 1930 Rev Warren Jones of the Anti Saloon League announced that Wisconsin voters backed repeal of the 18th amendment in Tuesday's referendum. He forecast a similar result next Tuesday to the state enforcement law repeal. The 1926 vote to repeal the enforcement law stood 350 237 to 196 402. Jones warned that dry forces had lost hope as the legislature decided the matter.
Florence Alabama April 2. A family of five perished when flames destroyed the home of Raylexa Pomeroy in the Gravely Springs area. Victims included Pomeroy and his wife, an 85 year old, two daughters aged 14 and 16, and a young son. Official said investigators believe the roof collapsed trapping them as they slept.
Washington April 2 Officials of the Veterans Administration prepared for an annual saving of 400 million dollars in veterans benefits under Roosevelt's decree. Most economies take effect July 1 as field instructions were issued to stations diverting executives orders. Brig. Gen. Frank T. Hines said planned construction at veterans hospitals would be discarded though ongoing projects might finish. some institutions may close due to cuts.

Four people died and five were injured in a head on collision on the Sixth Street extension in San Diego. Victims include Edward Walsh an older man from U S 8 Molland and V Wallis a marine aboard USS Rarencnda. Injured include Millard Taunt and Jonas Thynt among others.
