An unprecedented flood on the Similkameen last Thursday surged overnight from low morning levels to a rapid rise that swept logs into a jam. By afternoon the river overwhelmed booms, bowled over piers, and left an estimated 1.25 million feet of logs stranded or piled, with additional logs thought to be trapped on sand bars downstream.

Similkameen Falls Power Contract With Mountain Sheep
H W Johnson manager of Similkameen Falls Power and Development Co visited Nighthawk last Wednesday and announced a contract to supply Mountain Sheep Mining Co with 80 horsepower of electricity to run its compressor by November 15. Wiring will begin at once as Nighthawk and Oroville connect to the falls system. Johnson expects three quarters of contracted power ready as projects near development. Local mines plan to use electric power from the Falls as work progresses.
