Mine accident at Gold Drop mine in Rossland

June 16 in a blasting accident at the Gold Drop mine Edof Johnson was killed and James Logan severely injured. Johnson’s body was mangled and Logan suffered head and face injuries including probable eye loss. Dr. Millar transported Logan to Spokane for eye specialty care. An unlit fuse caused a delayed blast when a second attempt to fire a missed hole succeeded.
