Passing of Old Pioneer in Spokane Notes
Mrs Dowding, a pioneer of British Columbia, died June 20 at Mrs Sansom’s in Spokane after a short illness. She helped settle New Westminster with Captain Pittendrick, moved to Oxoivos in 1874, married Mr Lake in 1875, and hosted with hospitality until his 1888 death. Funeral at Osbynes reflected long years of kindness, with community tributes from Ti KaMip and others. Reverend Cameron led services, Indians sang in their language, and interment occurred at the lake shore with a final prayer.
