Railway progress update from Penticton to Princeton and beyond

Report outlines progress on multiple sections of a regional railway. Steel has been laid on the 175 mile Penticton to Osprey Lake segment, with grading on the 31 mile Osprey Lake to Princeton stretch nearing completion. A short East Prince to Princeton link and bridge works over the Tulumeeu River remain, with completion targeted for May 1. Ballasting crews work between Midway and Penticton as the Coquihale pass joint line grading wraps by year’s start. The line is to be commissioned in spring with service to commence early summer.

Rich high grade copper ore found near Skeena line

Prospectors J D Wells and James Darby report a rich bornite and chalcopyrite vein within a mile of Usk station on the Skeena river. Assays run 800 to 860 a ton with free gold enrichment. Partnership has staked multiple claims and begun development work as ore bins are planned beside the railroad. Local officials and mining interests have inspected the Kitselas district as prospects for smelting expand.

ASK FOR EXTENSIONS EXTENDS RAILWAY CHARTERS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

The Kettle Valley railway seeks acts to extend time for constructing new and existing charters across British Columbia. Proposals cover lines from Vernon to Penticton via Kelowna, Penticton to Osoyoos Lake, and routes toward Copper Mountain, Granite Creek, Hedley, Nicola, and other points, plus a 60 mile north fork extension from Midway.

Fourth Annual Ball by Hedley Modern Woodmen of America

The fourth annual ball at Star Theatre in Hedley drew a large crowd and was praised as one of the best. Supper was at the Gay Union Hotel, with A Winkler catering, and Hedley orchestra provided first class music showing marked improvement. Mining camp prospers in Fi province with 1000 ton monthly output

Atowshurd reports the lad as the most active mining camp in Fi province today with about 25,000 tems or 1000 tons monthly, led by Centre Star Group and Le Rul. Sixty miles from Muirbanks Almsky and the Headwaters of Lie Toland, a rich vein has been found though the camp is nearly inaccessible.

Getting Ready for Line from Oroville to British Columbia

Poles are distributed and wire strung along the road from Oroville to the BC boundary. The new link will connect the Oroville telephone system with the British Columbia side, touching about 200 offices. Construction is led by A Q Buckley of Riverside, with Hine building experience ensuring a high quality line.
