Railway track to be connected by January 25

Gamble chief engineer of the way department says the track across the province will be connected by January 25. A 159 mile segment lies west of Westminster with gaps of 28 miles and six miles remaining to close. Daily weather permits will speed progress and all gaps are to be filled by January 25.

Masque Carnival at the rink boosts treasury and prizes

The Friday Carneval event drew many costumes and prizes, raising about 150 for the treasury. Winners included best ladies costume H Freemin, best gents Bertie Schubert, bust comic Winter Wardell, bust girls Minnie Winkler, and best boss Henry Jones. In the free-for-all race Geo French won first, Len Brown second, while Townsend and French won a relay.

Old Pioneer Dies In Boundary Country

Joseph Bromley a longtime Fairview pioneer died last Saturday evening after suffering heart failure. He was 61, a Granite Creek immigrant who moved to Fairview after the rush and remained a bachelor. He leaves a brother John a tatCher in town and a half brother Peter in Keureneos. Funeral services were held at Fairview.

Local plant to restore power with new engines and boilers

Princeton tragedy ends in home fire death of Dorothy Thompson

In a May evening blaze on Taplin Avenue Princeton, the Thompson family home burned rapidly. Firemen found three trapped occupants. Dorothy Thompson, a two year old, died in bed. Father and mother survived with injuries. A neighbor, a man named De Wreiteli, suffered burns but is expected to recover. The lamp or lighting caused the fire according to initial accounts.

Bridge man killed by fall during railway work
