Drink-Crazed Indian Shoots Father in Main Street Reserve

Penticton Herald reports Basil Jack, an Indian youth about 21, allegedly drank heavily and shot his father on Main Street Reserve Sunday morning with a Colt revolver. Demonic Jack was found wounded and taken to hospital. police and local searchers pursue Basil Jack as a dangerous fugitive in nearby woods.

Geological Survey Work Continued Near International Boundary

Geologic notes describe Oligocene ternary rocks north of the boundary and prospecting on Kruger Mountain lode deposits. On the US side, two deposit types exist: disseminated copper near granodiorite and vein gold deposits driving district production. Canadian lodes are mainly copper-rich disseminations. The death of Angus Ma ron occurred Saturday at his daughter Mrs J Fraser home. A Nova Scotia native who spent years in the Maritime Provinces before moving west he served in Fenian Raids. The annual ministerial report for 1913 lists total mineral production at 30,296,298 dollars, second only to 1912’s record. East and West Kootenay districts rise, with notable gains in Slocan, Nelson, and Trail Creek. Boundary district falls from 1912. Lode mines yield gold 5,627,400, copper 7,004,480, zinc 324,421. coke valued at 1,720,270.
