Residents fear peach lands being mined by gold diggers.
An aged chief known as Pinto of the Uhu-chu-evwit tribe died past eighty after a long life among the Nicula and Chachirteywat peoples. He served as a temporary elective chief during a regency while the heir was a minor, with land and duties tied to the Indian Department and the Wisnok reservation.
Duncan Ties of Yale Cariboo presented to the house a preliminary petition from Solu Hendry president of Z. Jd seeking legislation to remedy defects in the company charter. The railway was incorporated in 1897 and declared for the general advantage of Canada in 1898 with extensions in 1902 and 1904. About 50 miles have been completed and finances are being arranged to finish the road amid doubts the charter may have lapsed. legislation is asked to remove doubt.
Shatford & Co denies authority for statements that Great Northern engineers were directed to use their stores. The ager says orders to date came in the usual course of business and he has sold nothing to the lower party, who bought all their stock elsewhere.
Engineer Bassett leads the lower survey party relocating camp to Keremeos. Great Northern's H W Silke and Chief Engineer Kennedy appear. Silke staying to meet him. Rumors mention a vote site down the river and railway work advancing with subcommittees planning for the run.
