The Hearne Democrat ad states F Felton Lam Lane as editor and proprietor. The publication is entered as second class matter on May 2, 1911, at the Hearne Texas post office under the 1879 act.
A regional columnist urges fathers to provide wholesome reading for children, equating mental diet with physical food. They argue many farm families neglect newspapers and magazines, stressing that parents must buy and pay for quality reading to foster pride, self respect, and informed citizens.
A. D. Jackson of Crysta City Texas met Tuesday with citizens under Col. W. W. Seley to advocate a constitutional amendment creating levee districts across multiple counties. The goal is a state system allowing valley voters to back bonds and reclaim flood prone lands, enabling broader flood control.
The Trinity valley people have formed a large enthusiastic association with several hundred leading farmers as members to cooperate in the plan. People in other valleys are forming their own organizations and the Brazos valley section plans to join. Mr. Jackson left for Bryan where a meeting had already been called to hear him discuss the problem.
In a critique shared across papers, editors renounce courting every local figure and instead treat news subjects as ordinary people. The shift includes charging real money for services, mailing statements to deadbeats, and applying standard business rules to all who do business with the paper.
On Wednesday in Elliott community, J. M. Cadle sold yellow yam potatoes to housewives at 35 cents per bucket or one dollar per bushel. Cadle farms three and a half acres, yielding over 100 bushels per acre, projecting about $100 per acre at market prices.
A local farmer lists 312 acres and six Jersey cows with a ready butter market at Hearne. Butter sells 25 to 85 cents a pound, hogs fatten with buttermilk, 100 laying hens yield 35 cents a dozen, fryers at 40 cents each. He keeps some cotton, two bales 15 cents, and Hearne exempts farmers from the anti huckster ordinance, inviting wagon sales in the city.
Mr M Adley of Houston visited Hearne on Tuesday, spending time in the town and meeting local residents.
Mr Jones recalls a morning incident at Bill's Store where a stranger asked Bill to cash a $1 check and another offered a farm paper subscription for postage. He urges caution, noting locals who buy from Bill and fear of unrecovered funds from unfamiliar sellers.

Farmers are urged to sell hogs at top market price with Reagan Bros offering quotes by writing or phoning at their expense Franklin address. The notice states they pay the highest market price and invites hog owners to contact them for a price.
