Colonel W. W. Seley state president calls a meeting of those interested in the conservation amendment to meet in Austin on Monday September 10 to confer on legislation to carry and make effective the amendment to the state constitution recently adopted. This county and especially the Brazos river section should be well represented at the state conference. The legislature is now in session and Governor Hobby will doubtless submit this subject for its attention.
The Baptist Aid Society will meet Monday at 4 o clock in the church. Election of officers and planning for the coming year are on the agenda. All church and society members are urged to attend promptly to help make next year a banner year. Reporter.

From Another Correspondent a good rain fell here which was badly needed. The dance given by Mr and Mrs Dallas Lloyd was a pleasant affair. Velora Griffin spent Saturday night and Sunday at Black Jack with Miss Ethel Banks. Ethel and Ila Davis visited Hattie Wilson Sunday. Eula Upshaw and Emma Upshaw visited Lola Reynolds Sunday. Eula Upshaw shopped in Franklin Saturday. Lola Reynolds Carrie Reynolds and Velora Griffin shopped in Hearne Saturday. Pearl Bishop was the guest of Alma Sawders Sunday.
Mrs Lena Bailey and her daughter Vera Brides of Hearne visited Elliott area relatives on Wednesday. The fragment notes a brief social gathering and mentions Miss Vera Brides in the same line.

Mr Ed Salley spent Sunday in Houston with friends. The outing involved casual gatherings and local downtime in the city.
Mrs Westbrook will entertain the T N Waul Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy on Tuesday afternoon in memory of Judge Reagan and Mrs Goodlett's birthdays. Members meet at 3 30 for a business session and the social hour at 4. This marks the new year and all members are urged to attend. Mrs Mary Reinhardt Morton hosted the chapter last Tuesday with Mrs Jessie Reinhardt assisting, weather keeping some away.
The Red Cross invites all interested in soldiers in France to a Friday night picture show on September 14. Proceeds go to the local Red Cross Auxiliary to fund knitting sweaters socks mufflers and wristlets for soldiers this winter. European winters are very cold and may cause pneumonia grippe and other illnesses without protection. Remember the date September 14.
Dr McNew’s book praised by Dr C B Williams dean of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as a thorough, well researched study of wealth in modern society. The reviewer commends its style and urges ministers social workers and kingdom workers to read it widely. Rev McNew is described as affable sincere and scholarly.
A church reports a group of about 9 to 10 Sunday morning members missing, believed headed toward Now Sunday School. Also lost is a well raised lad with two older boys toward Husk Lane Prodigal Town. Several hours of the Lord’s Day were taken by varied ages in Sunday clothes. Rewards offered for recovery. The pastor notes restored visitors, five professions of faith after services, and invites attendees next Sunday. A deathbed faith takeaway is shared by the writer.
