Littlefield’s Rise From Legion Clerk to National Leader

Raymond A Littlefield built a notable career in the Rhode Island American Legion, advancing from charter member of James Stanton post to department adjutant in 1924 and alternate national executive committeeman. He served in the Rhode Island National Guard from 1916 and went overseas in World War I with the 73rd Artillery. Born 1895 in Central Falls he was educated locally and remained a key engineering figure within the Legion.

Junior World's Series for Boys' Baseball Teams

Texas to intercede in oil peninsula land case

Texas plans to intervene in a unique suit as Assistant Attorney General R. J. Randolph prepares the petition. The case involves a peninsula that sank and is now submerged land of about 100 acres at Harris County, once known as Gaillard Peninsula, with the Rat Company holding the surface lease and Humble Company having wells underneath. Gas and oil pressures led to the peninsula’s disappearance beneath salt waters.

Oil Production Driven by Wells in Big Lake and Targets

Reagan County production near San Angelo Texas rose as Big Lake Oil Company wells Nos 21 and 27 increased output from a 2450 foot sand late in the week. The gain competed with a wildcat strike by Marland Oil Company on the Mrs M L Baker tract in Upton County and Magnolia Petroleum Fos ter No 2 in Western Mitchell County which yielded higher returns after deepening 18 inches to 287146 feet.

New Well at Taylor Expands Rockdale Field Width

The Bartlet Production Company brought in its sixth well on the Coulter lease in the Rockdale shallow field on Tuesday. The Illison Oil Company also struck a good well on the J. P. Keevil lease on the outskirts of Rockdale, extending the proven field by one mile, making it two miles wider than at operations start.

A suit seeks 10 million dollars or an interest in Texan Oil and Land Company properties in Reagan County for services rendered under an alleged agreement between geologist Hugh Tucker and Frank T. Pitrell, vice president, filed in federal court at San Angelo.

Heavy oil swabbed near Boyd discovery in Wortham field

Pure Oil Company is swabbing its No. 25 N. B. Boyd near the Boyd discovery well in the Wortham oil field. The shallow heavy grade oil shows 23 gravity and comes from about 1400 feet, with commercial quantities produced.

Wells in Rockdale Field Hit Five Producers

Jennings Oil Company reports success on the MV Herbert Branch lease just north of Rockdale Texas. After two non productive initial wells the fifth well is a good producer, moving west and northwest from earlier locations. The last well yields 25 barrels and the lease now streams over 65 barrels daily.

Barker No. 1 oil location announced by Humble

Orange Texas reports Humble Oil and Refining Company announces a new location named Barker No. 1 on the west side of Cow Bayou about one mile south of Humble office between Sinclair Oil and Gas Company's No. 1 Turner and the field. The company has begun rigging up on No. 28 Chesson.

Haywood Tract Drilling Near Bastrop Texas Reinitiated

Drilling operations on the Haywood test seven miles southwest of Bastrop have been resumed after a shutdown due to water conditions. The well drilled by F. E. Skinner is down about 600 feet on the Haywood tract.
