Hon Chas C McRea of Houston to speak at city park Monday at 7 pm for the Second Red Cross Drive with Private Cleveland, a frontline veteran who lost a limb, to attend. attendance urged for all residents.
The revival meeting at St Marshall Church starts Sunday May 26 led by evangelist J Wilson of West Texas Conference. Sunday school meets 9 45 with a Children s Day program at evening service Red Cross sermon preached and a general invitation to all town churches to join in unity.
Franklin High School to hold commencement at First Methodist church in Hearne on Friday evening May 17. Class rolls list Minnie Slawson as president and Charner M Perry as valedictorian. Ruth Scott and Ruth Dishroon among salutatorians. Urline Frances Connor as secretary. Henry Kirksey Kellogg as treasurer. Roy L Moss, fresh from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, plans return in September to continue studies.
The Hearne Chamber of Commerce proposes a May slogan patriotic to conserve public health and clean up. A recent directors meeting was canceled due to quorum issues. president and R W Miller attended but no business was transacted. A future meeting will address pending measures and plans to hire a manager for a community canning plant demonstrations by A and M expert.
The community canner’s outfit was partially shipped by freight and partially by express. The freight portion has arrived and by press time the express portion should follow.
An advertisement asserts catarrh is a constitutional disease and promotes F. J. Cheney & Co. remedy as the only constitutional cure. It claims internal doses from 10 drops to a teaspoon and guarantees one dollar for a failed case, urging readers to send for circulars and testimonials. Also mentions Lake Ball's Family Pills for constipation.
Mr and Mrs Ike Hall entertained graduates including Patrick Burney Hall and six classmates at an informal Tuesday evening reception. Pink phlox poppies and sweet peas decorated the scene while Robette Hart greeted guests in organdy. Eugenie Marshall led them to the punch table as Katharine Bishop and Ladie Pryor mingled with guests. The young men wore blue serge commencement suits and a salad course with tea concluded the pleasant gathering. About thirty guests attended.
