The Colt 45s of Calvert defeated the Braves 6 to 5 to open Little League action at the Lions Club diamond Tuesday night. Upcoming games include Giants versus Cardinals Thursday and Braves versus Dodgers Friday. The Little League Association, per President Fred C. Ferrara, will announce rosters and schedules by next week in The Democrat of May 11.

The 72 piece Hearne High School Band directed by Ted C Kelly earned first division in sight reading and second division in concert at the Regional contest in Waco last Friday. Kay Clapp and Bill Jackson won first division gold medals in the student conducting contest. Judges included Dr Frank Phillips Dr Gene Stuchberg George Royster and John Badgett. Other Class AA bands competing were Gatesville West and Hillsboro.

Grand Jury Returns True Bill Against L. Berrara
The Robertson County Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment against Louis Berrara of Hearne for raping a Hearne widow on April 22. District Judge John M. Barron ordered Berrara held without bond until trial. Berrara was arrested by Hearne police and sheriff deputies who say he admitted breaking into the home and raping the woman.

Funeral services for Mrs. J A Stewart of Lott
Funeral services were held Thursday at two oclock in the First Baptist Church in Lott for Mrs J A Stewart who died Tuesday night in a Marlin hospital at 63. Officiating was Rev A L Ashcraft. Burial followed in Marlin. She had long been a Baptist church member. Survived by three sons T A Stewart Hearne Will Stewart Waco and Truman Stewart Galveston, a brother and a sister, plus several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr Stewart preceded her in death in 1956.

No Definite Action on Crossing During Week
