Hearne Eagle Relays Friday On Wood Field

The sixth annual Hearne Eagle Relays will be held Friday March 4 on Wood Field at the Junior High campus. Field events start 9:30 am, prelims 11:45 am, finals 4 pm. Coaches Reeder and Robinson, meet director Bob Davis, two divisions varsity and junior varsity, with 20 teams including Cameron, Rosebud Lott, Elgin, Caldwell, A&M Consolidated, Navasota, Mexia, Madisonville, Westwood Palestine, Centerville, Buffalo, Franklin, Calvert, Bremond, Allen Academy, Leon, Fairfield, Teague, Somerville, and Hearne.

World Day Of Prayer Service Planned at St Marys Church

A World Day of Prayer service will be held at St Marys Catholic Church on Friday March 4 at two oclock in the afternoon. The event marks the first Friday in March in visible ecumenical fellowship and is sponsored in the United States by Church Women United. All Christians are invited to attend this hour of celebration.

Oak Grove Country Club hosts seventh annual Blind Bogey Tourney

The Oak Grove Country Club in Franklin stages its seventh annual Blind Bogey Golf Tour nament on April 2-3 drawing over 200 Central Texas golfers. Four flights award pro‑line woods golf bags and golf balls, with medals, rifles for closest to hole prizes, and a long drive prize. Total value exceeds $1,000. Registration includes barbecue, lunch, and access to all prizes.

Shootout in Hearne Endangers None. Suspect Arrested

A Hearne police shootout on February 22 ended with David Bundage jailed on three charges and $12,000 bond after allegedly firing at waitress Glenda Peterson of the Sophisticated Lady Lounge. Peterson escaped unharmed and identified Bundage to Officer Sifuentes. Bullets damaged a nearby pickup owned by Robert Garrett. Bundage was transferred to Franklin jail after booking. One other subject faced traffic violations and another was picked up for DWI during the week.

Norwood Cemetery Association Forms in Hearne July 1975

A Hearne civic group organized the Norwood Cemetery Association in July 1975 to improve care and pursue perpetual care status. Officers elected include Charles Luster president and W S Hoyt Jr vice president. Directors were Doyle Hodges Jack Mathews Odis Hoyt and Fred Tidemann. Annual dues set at 25 dollars for 1976 with city support of 400 dollars monthly.

Quarterbacks To Meet Thursday Hearne Club

Members of the Hearne Quarterback Club will meet Thursday March 3 at 6 30 p m at the Junior High School gymnasium. The meeting will plan track meets and baseball tournaments for the coming weeks. All members are urged to attend.

Hearne Council Approves Engine Four Overhaul

Hearne City Council unanimously approved the overhaul of engine four at the Municipal Plant at a conversion price of 66,000 with a six month warranty from Fairbanks Morse. The project includes dual fuel conversion by FM engineers and aims to have the 12 cylinder unit producing 1,200 KW by mid May or early June. Don Lewis and other workers may observe the work to aid future operation and parts are available.

Calvert Baptist Revival Plans Highlight March Crusade

The Calvert area hosts a Good News Revival Crusade March 13 20 at seven each evening led by evangelist Dr Felix Wagner associate pastor of the First Baptist Church of Houston with Mr and Mrs C Ware in charge of music They plan choir meetings and special music nightly Worship services March 6 include Lord's Supper dedication of a new solid brass and silver plated service and two stained glass sanctuary windows replacing others featuring Christ the Good Shepherd and the Garden of Gethsemane Pastor Dr Joe W Bailey will deliver sermons with morning worship at 1050 and evening service at 6 00 Educational and prayer events occur throughout the week with community attendance encouraged
