Hearne Eagle Relays Friday On Wood Field
The sixth annual Hearne Eagle Relays will be held Friday March 4 on Wood Field at the Junior High campus. Field events start 9:30 am, prelims 11:45 am, finals 4 pm. Coaches Reeder and Robinson, meet director Bob Davis, two divisions varsity and junior varsity, with 20 teams including Cameron, Rosebud Lott, Elgin, Caldwell, A&M Consolidated, Navasota, Mexia, Madisonville, Westwood Palestine, Centerville, Buffalo, Franklin, Calvert, Bremond, Allen Academy, Leon, Fairfield, Teague, Somerville, and Hearne.

World Day Of Prayer Service Planned at St Marys Church
A World Day of Prayer service will be held at St Marys Catholic Church on Friday March 4 at two oclock in the afternoon. The event marks the first Friday in March in visible ecumenical fellowship and is sponsored in the United States by Church Women United. All Christians are invited to attend this hour of celebration.

Shootout in Hearne Endangers None. Suspect Arrested
A Hearne police shootout on February 22 ended with David Bundage jailed on three charges and $12,000 bond after allegedly firing at waitress Glenda Peterson of the Sophisticated Lady Lounge. Peterson escaped unharmed and identified Bundage to Officer Sifuentes. Bullets damaged a nearby pickup owned by Robert Garrett. Bundage was transferred to Franklin jail after booking. One other subject faced traffic violations and another was picked up for DWI during the week.

A Hearne civic group organized the Norwood Cemetery Association in July 1975 to improve care and pursue perpetual care status. Officers elected include Charles Luster president and W S Hoyt Jr vice president. Directors were Doyle Hodges Jack Mathews Odis Hoyt and Fred Tidemann. Annual dues set at 25 dollars for 1976 with city support of 400 dollars monthly.

Hearne Council Approves Engine Four Overhaul
Hearne City Council unanimously approved the overhaul of engine four at the Municipal Plant at a conversion price of 66,000 with a six month warranty from Fairbanks Morse. The project includes dual fuel conversion by FM engineers and aims to have the 12 cylinder unit producing 1,200 KW by mid May or early June. Don Lewis and other workers may observe the work to aid future operation and parts are available.
