Notice records show the Hearne Texas post office designation as second class matter entered May 2 1911 and March 2 1917 under the 1879 act, with Hearne Texas named as the place of mailing and publication.
Through the kindness of Mr. W. P. Ferguson the editor toured Brazos Bottom in his eight cylinder Cadillac with Ferguson Simmons and Peter Ferguson. Acres are well broken and clean. farmers await planting with corn set for February 26 or March 5. The section is cultivated by progressive farmers, ready for a strong season.
The Baptist church aid society met Monday afternoon with Mrs Westbrook. Thirty two ladies attended a devotional program with papers by Mesgam Down and Kerney, followed by a musical hour featuring Mes dames Floyd Easterwood and Thad Childre, plus Mrs Glenny Martin Bobette Hart and Ruth Williams. Mrs Westbrook served chocolate and cake and invited Hearne residents to visit Rev McNew and his wife at the Parsonage.
The Baptist News Notes report a small rise in Sunday School attendance last Sunday and a notably better choir turnout, which enhanced the musical portions of services. The pastor was pleased by the evening crowd and urged continued attendance, with a well received musical number. The Ladies Aid Society met at Sister Westbrook’s home with over thirty women, described as a capable, active group. Mrs Henry Williams died in Seattle Washington on February 22. She was the beloved wife of Henry P Williams and the second daughter of Robt Vancleuve of Wheelock. She spent her girlhood days near Hearne and left many archives and friends.
Mrs I S Lewis of Philadelphia was the guest of her brother Mr Sig Epstein on Monday afternoon en route from Taylor to Galveston.
